    Thank you so much for writing this book. Its been very clarifying for me. I’m a 36 year old, single never married, successful women who hasn’t completely come to understand why I don’t have someone or what God’s divine purpose is for me. This book has truly helped me embrace the gift of loneliness & that being single can be amazing with the right perspective. Thank you

    I must say your books have been an inspiration for me,being a muslim single lady at 30 and in Africa, you can imagine the stigma and the questioning looks of why is she still single? Is she above everyone that she thinks no one is good enough? I swear I almost settled just because!!! Found your FB page on a very close friend’s wall who is also single and I immediately bought the single woman and letting go kindle version books, I also bought the books you suggested by Dodinsky and Jereme Ford! I’m grateful to God for bringing you to me, sometimes I even think it’s me talking to me 🙂

A month ago i would have told u my life was over and id lost the best thing that ever happened to me but now after reading your books im focusing on me. And realising that i still have an awesome life with or without that person. And 31 is just a number

      Rach, I’m in the same boat as you. 31, and after 2 yrs he decided to tell me it’s over in an email. Some days are harder than others, but reading Mandy’s book, blog, and quotes on Twitter help soooo much! It’s what we make of it, and we need to embrace our single girl status. 🙂
      Happy New Year!

    I’m in the process of going through a divorce from my first and only love of 17 years. Lost, lonely, sad, trying to stay happy for my 2 children. I came across your Facebook page and am encouraged by the quotes. Looking forward to reading the book.

      I understand completely how you feel…..I too am going through a divorce after 31 years married…I was sad and lonely and felt my world was over. Not so, I have learned independance, patience, and I look at life through different eyes. The most important thing I learned was…..to love myself. When you do this all things find their place….Chin up SW….Life is good!

      I have been divorced for 3 years now married for 10. Leaving a long term relationship is scary,confusing for yourself as well as for the children. You are going to discover a lot of things by yourself,who you are and where you are now wanting to go. Being single is fabolous once you get comfortable in your space. And Mandy your blog really inspires,keep it up

    My mantra for 2014 – similar to #2 on your list above.
    From an actor I greatly am inspired by and admire…

I invested too much and put too much on the line. I’ve enjoyed reading your and follow you on twitter. Continue uplifting other singles out there. It does get better, people. One day at a time.

    My mantra #10

  23. Julie
    December 26, 2013

    Being single is OK! Why does society force people to think they need to be in a relationship? Marriage is so overrated. What is wrong with choosing to be single instead of settling in life for a relationship that makes you unhappy? I’m single by choice because I refuse to be smothered and controlled by a man. I’m just too strong and independent for them! Not my problem-its theirs!

    Happiness is being single!!!!

    Out of the Top 10 Quotes, my favorite is #3. I’ve always believed that to know what you want in any type of relationship, career or life in general, it is paramount to have a crystal clear understanding of who you are and what you’re worth!

  27. December 26, 2013

    Great Work! I’ve been following you on facebook for some time now.

    For me, being single isn’t just OK, it is preferable. I need a new word for my status. So, I’m on a quest.
    “Single” implies “available”. People seem to automatically assume that a single woman is looking for or waiting for the next relationship. Now hear this: I’m not. I prefer my solitary life. When those who are married want to fend off flirtations, they simply state they are “happily married”. It is succinct. It tells sensible people to back off.
    I’m searching for a new word or short phrase for stating my status without sounding rude. Because, yeah, I can do rude pretty well sometimes.

    I’m 41, going through a divorce, coming out of a 14 yr relationship and trying to figure out custody of our 9 yr old little girl. My ex had cheated with another woman (or 2) and mismanaged our joint income. In the midst of divorce, I was forced to short sale my 1st home, pack all our belongings and move back with my family while I figure things out including work out my financial situation as I am stuck with a $60k debt. My credit was ruined, then I lost my job this year. I was depressed and had lost myself in my daily routine over the last few years in my marriage. Your book came at just the right time for me. It was an easy read and I read it from cover to cover feeling very inspired. I realized these things that have happened in my life, were signs that I needed to slow down and find humility and it was a very humbling experience. Because of it, I sought support by rekindling friendships, made new friends, and got closer to my family. I got to read books and journal again and learned to start dating, marveling in my new found inner goddess and started to have fun again. My ego recently got the best of me and I realized I still need to spend sometime alone to figure things out for myself. It is scary at times and I often feel very raw and vulnerable though I’ve had a little more time to travel and am learning to live in the moment and discover myself all over again. Its exhilarating to find synchronicities through these blessings. I know there is a bigger plan for me which keeps me excited and open to new opportunities. Thank you for your inspiration. I refuse to claim my experiences as being victimized. You can find big blessings in life when you surrender your inner struggle and I am loving my “me time.”

    Thanks so much for these quotes, I can relate to many of the posts above being a 35 year old single, never married professional woman. I sometimes find it hard to keep positive and believe that there is someone out there for me who will come along when the time is right. I am going to purchase your book to read over the holiday period to give me some hope that 2014 is going to be a great year!

  34. December 27, 2013

    Love, love, love this book! I am a 35-year old single, never married, with a successful career and amazing family, yet every year I deal with the loneliness of the holidays. My closest friends are all married with children and I am the only grandchild on both sides of the family that isn’t married or engaged. Your book has been so inspirational this Christmas season and I am thankful for the opportunity to read it and to share it with others who may be in the same situation I am in. Thank you, Mandy, for sharing your heart and soul with your readers!

    December 27, 2013

    These are all inspirational. Here is just a quick little story. I had been married for 16 years when I decided it was time to end the marriage. After I was single for a few years, I ran into a lady from my old neighborhood. She wondered why I was still single. She thought that by now I would have met someone. That is when I realized that people just assume that you have to be with someone in order to feel worthwhile. I told her, “When I meet someone worthwhile, I will let you know.” She just gave me a shocked look. I enjoy having choices! Thank you so much, Mandy!

    Looks like a great page.. One bugbear tho.. Can you attribute the quotes, where relevant? I have many copies of these quotes, or the ones they’re taken from, and it’s interesting to read their other thoughts over the last 20.years or so, and see results. Only thing that spoils the blog for me

    • Mandy Hale
      December 28, 2013

      Haha…if you read the blog, you actually see that they all came from me. They were pulled directly from my book “The Single Woman: Life, Love, & a Dash of Sass.” I can assure you these quotes have not been around for the past 20 years, as they were just published in my book in August. 🙂

    While I read the quotes they are very good and I guess single is what I am but more so I am a widow and a very lonely one not to mention so very very sad. My husband passed away on 11-5-13 and I miss him so very very much ! I wish we could get more quotes that would help up lift not only being single but being a widow also. I need to read these quotes to help me find a reason to just get out of bed each day. For I lost my love and my best friend of 30 yrs. he was only 50 yrs old and I feel like I have no reason in this world to be here! So if anyone knows of a site where I can get uplifting quotes or if we can get them on this on for single/widows that would be wonderful. I love your work very uplifting!!

    • December 28, 2013

      I am also a widow. My husband died in 2011 @ the age of 55. I am 56. It is lonely and I think I will always cry. I have no children or family support except for my father who is 87. I think god has kept him here for me. Without him I would not make it. I just wanted you to know you are not alone.

    • Joy Herstine
      January 1, 2014

      I am also a widow. After several bad relationships I finally met the love of my life. We had 6 amazing years together, which was not long enough. The last 2 years I watched him battle cancer as hard as he could to stay with me. He died June 2, 2013. There are still days that the pain is to much to bare and days I don’t leave my house. Just know you are not alone. I am trying to learn how to be single again. I will be buying the book in hopes it gives me the strength to go on and love life again.

      I have been divorced in 2013 from an emotionally manipulative man who still is trying to do his worst through my children. I then have fallen into a relationship which from the outside world is completely inappropriate and from my inner psyche also know this is true. But finding the resolve to end it is so hard. People tell me I have lost myself and my dreams. That I need to love myself and to now make myself no 1. So why do I fear it so much? The link and your comments are amazing and I will read the book tonight as I have escaped to another location for NYE to try and get my head together x. Thank you x

    I really love those quotes ,absolutely true..when I decided to do things that was 7years later an amazing man met me ,then I realised I wouldn’t have if I’d sacrifice,when he loves you ,he will respect you,am treated like a queen ,everyday!!but I know my blessing was in the waiting and not settling for less.

    December 29, 2013

    ~~~Came across your website at just the right time…Have settled into a relationship and not sure why I don’t end it. Going on 3 years. hes lied about texting, emailing, with exes. was living with me and moved back in with his parents when I confronted him. Now we are still “boyfriend/girlfriend” but I feel like I am convenient only when its part of his routine or nothing else to do… I snuck a look at his phone again..and of course found another ex text..disguting. But whats more disgusting is that I just don’t end it. Stuck in my usual pattern of feeling like I don’t deserve anything better..its a vicious, sick cycle and hard to get out of……
    Love all your quotes! I’m 60 and still single. My daughter gave me your book for Christmas and I’ve already read it. After a man walked away from me 18 mos ago with no goodbye I thought I was finished! God is so good and I am blessed that he let me stumble upon your tweets about then. Long story short, I have let go and very recently have started thanking Jesus for that goodbye. Then I read your book, the greatest gift. I am moving forward and I am actually for the diet time putting “getting married” on my vision board this year. And I’m telling everyone I’m not desperate and I’m not settling but I am envisioning it in a way I never have. Thanks for your encouragement! And single ladies remember ‘The right one for you will move mountains to be with you, he won’t hide behind them. ‘ Thanks Mandy!
  46. December 29, 2013
    I have had such a rough year for relationship that is.. Wasted to much time on a guy i thought i loved. Found out he was cheating on me and just doing things that were not good. He was toxic to me. I plan on starting 2014 with a positive attitue. I got a new job this past year and have learned some very valuble lessons from friends. I have also learned to always go with my gut feeling because its usually right. Don’t let someone tear down my wall so easy and dont rush into something im not truly ready for. I am looking foward to reading the single woman book and have some more positive attitueds towards a lot of things! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Bring on 2014 and all that it as in store for me, because you know what Im ready!
    Your messages are very inspiring on twitter. I’m single. I just got out of a 7 year relationship. I devoted so much love and care but apparently he was cheating. Following you on twitter really inspired me that I can be single and still love life. I thought I couldn’t live without him, but I’m more than confident now that I can. Although depression sets in atimes but I feel very strong when I think about the opportunity I have to start and love again.
    Your quotes have been a great inspiration and gave me the strenght I needed to start appreciating myself and see the world through different glasses. After 3 tough years as a single, I started smiling at life, enjoyed what it had to offer and refused to worry one more second about my future. And life smiled back at me!     Thank you for the quotes, blog page and book. I am the single again 40 something that has been trying the dating game again for the last 3 years. (divorced 8 years now after a 15 + year marriage). A few months ago I got involved with someone who just isn’t the one no matter how hard I tried to make it happen. He was the first man that I told that I loved him since the ex husband. I have been on a complete roller coaster over the last 3 weeks while wrestling with my head and my heart. As of tonight it is over and finished and I have blocked all contact to and from him. Thanks for helping me find the courage to not lose myself again trying to please someone that just simply isn’t happy with his own life. Oddly when I finally blocked both voice and text I felt a sense of peace rush over me. No more roller coaster, no more settling. ONward and UPward for this lady in the new year. 2014 is my year and I will continue to pursue my goals and dreams.
  56. December 30, 2013
    I am no one’s option. 🙂 I love my freedom; I answer to no one but me. I fail alone and succeed alone; it has taken me over 5 years to get the real me back. I don’t need someone to take care of me; I only needed him to take care of my heart.
    Wow!!! I must buy your book. These 10 quotes are truly amazing!! I connected with #6. I’m divorced, 2 children. I was afraid of being alone.
    It was a challenge for me but through prayer family support and my small circle of true friendship I have overcome that feeling. #6 solidifies where I’m at in my life with being alone!!!
    After 32 years of marriage, I found out the things that now my ex was doing, it was painful to learn,
    and being told I don’t love you.
    Having a job with little to no hours. And lost my home and being force to live with daughter and her family
    it has some ugly moments.
    I do have a new job. ya !
    This is whole new year to come, with new things to learn, with new adventures.
    Finding out what am made of and how strong I am.
    I love it. I will live by it. Mrs. Mandy Hale I really thank you for this book. It’s a kind of book to a better way of thinking. And even though I hate being alone and not on a relationship. This will and has helped me to find myself and when he comes a better man. Thank you❤️
    These quotes really make so much sense. Seeking approval from others when you aren’t even happy with yourself gets you nowhere. I love these quotes!! 🙂
    Love the #1 quote, Mandy! I posted it for my single FB friends. You are so right! The grass is not always greener on the other side and look how much fun you’re having. A quote I recently came across said “Marriage is two people jointly solving problems they never had before they got married.” Now how’s that for perspective 🙂 A man is not going to make our lives complete or totally happy. It’s up to each of us to do that for ourselves. Happy and joyous New Year to you!
    Favorite quote: “the real fairytale is designing a life that is so amazing to you, that you do not need to be rescued from it.”
    I’ve had the pleasure of being married, divorced, raised two children, got engaged a 2nd time but called it off, jumped back into the dating pool with the sharks, got bit up and stopped dating, etc. You catch my drift. Look up exhausted in the dictionary and my picture is probably there. There’s nothing wrong with being single, own it and grow from it. Mandy’s book should confirm that single is a choice. And There’s a reason for every “season”. Stop worrying about what/who you lost in past relationships and start living to find your purpose. For its in this process that you’ll discover what truly makes you happy. We are so much more attractive/sexier when we know what we want. So much wiser having endured pain and made sacrifices. This should be celebrated. We don’t have to settle. I love having this freedom to make my mark on the world without having to nurture a relationship. My heart tells me I’ll fall in love again soon. In the meantime, I’m doing me and so should you. Cheers to all the single ladies in the New Year!! Have fun!
    Everyone says it’s spot on and so true but not for me which makes me feel like even more of an outcast. The idea of love was shattered for me at a young age. I’m incapable of being in love. I’ll never be able to experience any of these. It’s a horrible feeling but I’m starting to accept it.
    Hello world, its been a year now in singledom. Been married n divorced. I feel like I have nobody to talk to. Right now I just feel so alone. So here I shout.
    Should I continue doing my Phd just to escape it all? I really think I should change my world. Been 13 yrs working at the same place and living same lonely life. The problem with me is that am afraid to make the move. I couldn’t talk about my deepest feeling to my family members. So just bottled it all inside. Hmm today I need to say this thing to someone but I have nobody. You kind people.. Pls respond. Tq.
      If I were you, it was a great opportunity to have the chance to take up PhD. Set the love aside first and continue your career.
      Learn to love yourself, the people around you, be happy & in time, someone will appreciate you and love you for who you are.
      Hey! We’re on the same ground, and I do believe that each one of us have our own destiny. We may not meet them today, but I assure you, someone will come to you. You’ll be surprised 🙂
      Been there, done that. Being Single is not totally a shit at all. When you’re thinking that it is, then you’ll feel that the world is against you. Don’t you realize that? It’s good to work on yourself first and feel free in everything you do.
      when the right person came, then at least, you’re ready and strong enough to face her and the world. 🙂
      Godbless you! :*
