The Single Woman Says:

Dear Men of the World,

This is probably going to come as a HUGE shock to you – but it’s something that has to be said. The time has come to let the cat out of the bag. Are you ready? Wait for it…

Here’s the thing. I think I can confidently speak for all women when I say – we don’t really LIKE to be the one you call at 2:30 a.m. when you wanna come over. That’s not a compliment. It’s not our idea of a dream date. And it doesn’t make us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Quite the opposite, actually. (What’s the opposite of “warm and fuzzy”? Would it be “cold and bald”?) We also don’t like to be told “I love you” or proposed marriage to at 2:30 a.m. Call me crazy, but something about a marriage proposal that comes via text message after midnight just doesn’t ring true.

We want to be the one you call at 2:00 in the afternoon, not 2:00 in the morning. We want to hear “I love you” in a clear, decisive tone…not slurred from exhaustion and booze. And we want you to get down on one knee from love to propose marriage and not because you’re in the process of passing out from tossing back one too many with your boys. In short, we want to be treated like LADIES and not “ladies of the evening.”

Bottom line, we want to let you know, here and now, that if you only come knockin’ when the club has stopped rockin’, our door will no longer be opened for you. Because we don’t love you? No. Because we love ourselves MORE.
