The Single Woman’s Dash of Sass: Don’t Just REACH for the Stars – DANCE With Them!

Quote of the Day:

“That thing that scares you the most, that makes you say ‘I don’t know if I can do it, I’m scared’…run towards it, because it’s so amazing on the other side.” ~Sherri Shepherd

The Single Woman Says:

In case you missed it, the very vibrant, joyous Sherri Shepherd was voted off Dancing With the Stars last night in a moment that shocked the audience and viewers at home alike. I have been rooting for Sherri since Day One, not only because she is someone I consider a “Twitter friend,” but because she is such an inspiration for those of us who are often scared to death, but saddle up anyway. She is perhaps not the most technically gifted dancer…but put her up against even the world’s top dancers, and I’d rather watch Sherri any day. The joy and sparkle and LIFE she brings to the dance floor cannot be matched – not by any fancy move, not by any sophisticated lift. As Carrie Ann Inaba said to Sherri a couple of weeks ago, when she faltered a bit during her dance: “Confidence can take you past mistakes.” And what a beautiful, shining example of this Sherri Shepherd was. “It’s just Dancing With the Stars,” some of you might say. “What’s the big deal?” The big deal is this: So many of us are sitting on the sidelines of life, waiting for perfection, waiting until we get every single last step JUST right, trying desperately to cover our flaws and quirks and mistakes…but Sherri Shepherd CELEBRATED hers. And in doing so, she made those of us who often hesitate to take the leap into the unknown a little braver. A little more bold. A little more fearless. And as the old adage says, at the end of the day: “It’s not the woman with the most pairs of shoes who garners the prize – but the one who has the most fun dancing in them!”

Thank you, Sherri, for bringing FUN back into our lives. Thank you for encouraging all of us not just to REACH for the stars, but to DANCE with them. You will be missed.
