The Single Woman Sass: Maybe Christmas, Perhaps, Means a Little Bit More…

Quote of the Day:

“And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes, or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled ’til his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before. Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.” ~Dr. Seuss

The Single Woman Says:

On shopping and cooking and wrapping and fixing! On cleaning and baking and buying and mixing! Oh, the wild chaotic rush of Christmas! Family comes to town, presents have to be bought and wrapped, dishes have to be cooked…and in the midst of it all, the quiet, simple beauty of Christmas can sometimes get lost in the shuffle.

Today, I urge you to pause in the midst of your flurry of preparations and reflect for a moment on the year that has passed. Most of the time I urge you not to look behind you and gaze too long at the past…but there’s no better time than Christmas to take a look back at where you were a year ago today and thank God for how far you’ve come. Another year and we’re all still here! To sing and celebrate and rejoice and give thanks for the most basic but glorious of blessings: family, friends, hope, joy, LIFE. Because at the end of the day…the REAL joy of life can’t be found in PRESENTS…but in each other’s PRESENCE. And there’s no better gift this holiday season than the presence of the people you love and the people who love you.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
