The Single Woman’s Dash of Sass: The Silver Lining of Being Single
Quote of the Day:
“Everyone I know is getting married or pregnant. I’m just getting more awesome.” ~How I Met Your Mother
The Single Woman Says:
I recently saw this quote and it made me laugh, so I wanted to share it with you guys. I think as single women it’s so easy sometimes to feel as though we don’t quite “fit in” with our married friends. We have nothing to offer in the way of “mommy advice,” we stick out like a sore thumb at dinner parties, and if one more wife darts over to her husband’s side possessively and all but raises her leg to pee on him simply because he strikes up an innocent conversation with us, we’re going to turn into a character from “Snapped.” (Because…and no offense meant here…but ladies, we don’t want your man.) Am I right?!
Here’s the thing you’ve gotta remember, though. As green as the grass might look on the other side of the white picket fence, our married counterparts are shooting the occasional envious glance over at our lives, too. Some of them would probably PAY to have the luxury of doing whatever they want, whenever they want. To spend their Saturdays getting manis and pedis instead of changing poopies and wetties. To worry about what to WEAR to a party instead of what Tupperware to take to a party. And heck…even to stretch out on both sides of the bed whenever they darn well please. Face it, singles…we have a pretty sweet life. We have ROOM to be who we want to be and to see what we wanna see. It’s not that difficult to find the silver lining in our situation. You really have to look no further than the fabulous silver ring you splurged on for yourself simply because you COULD. So like the quote says…maybe everyone around you is getting married and having babies and you’re not. But who cares? Anybody can get married. Not just anybody can be fabulous. J
