I have a friend who has had what you might call a doozy of a week. One thing after another after another has gone wrong. People have hurt her, betrayed her, let her down…people she should be able to count on. It has caused her to question a few things, a few relationships…probably even question herself. But here’s the thing about my friend. She’s one of those people who brings sunshine to everyone she meets. She always has a kind word…she goes out of her way to make people feel included…and she has a way of making you feel like she’s known you for years when you just met her five minutes ago. She’s just one of THOSE people. And here’s the thing: People with the biggest hearts are the very people that tend to face opposition from those with the smallest minds. If no one ever throws rocks at you…you’re probably not building anything very significant. If no one ever tries to put out your light…you’re probably not shining very bright. And if no one ever tries to make you stumble, you’re probably not climbing very high. So every time you come under attack, know that you, my friends, are on the right track. People tend to leave the mediocre alone. If they’re trying to knock you off your game…it’s only because they know you’re winning. Shake ‘em off and keep grinning.
