The Single Woman’s Dash of Sass: May 27, 2011
Quote of the Day:
“There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do.” ~Marianne Williamson
The Single Woman Says:
When you shine bright, there are always going to be people who come along and try and turn off your light. There are people in this world who, unfortunate as it may be, feel so low about themselves that they try and tear others down so they won’t be the only ones on the bottom. I call those people haters – not because they hate YOU- but because they hate the fact that you possess all the things that they wish to be. Here’s the good news about haters: When you reach the top, you might get a lotta noise from those on the bottom…but you won’t be able hear ’em from way up there!
It’s not your job to tiptoe around insecurity. If someone is intimidated by your confidence, it’s not on you. Keep shinin’ and keep right on climbin’! Remember: People only rain on your parade because they’re jealous of your sun and tired of their shade. Keep on the sunny side of the street and never be afraid to share your light with every person you meet! The ones meant to be in your life will never try to turn off your light, steal your shine, or dull your glow. The others – let ‘em go. As Rev Run once said: “God gave you your shine. Hide it for no one. If people don’t like it, you’re with the wrong crowd!”
